Here are some examples of my web design work. If you are interested in hiring me for your own project, you can contact me at jonmaclaughlin@gmail.com
Arlington Latino Network (community group)
http://arlingtonlatino.net
System: Drupal
Features: Bilingual (English and Spanish), membership database tools, newsletter publishing tools, resource submission workflow, event calendar, Facebook integration, member survey tools, private discussion groups
ALN's website will be integral to their growth as a community network. The site both disseminates information and collects new memberships. By allowing users to post and translate new information, it empowers ALN's members to be helpful and useful towards fulfilling ALN's goals.
The site, which is under continuous development, will be a vital tool for the organization's mission of "Supporting student success" in the community.
Central Coast Surveyors (small business)
http://sandbox.jonandlisaswedding.info/ccsurveyors/
System: WordPress
This small business wanted a simple, informative site that would give them a presence on the web, and nothing more. This site is a redesign of their current website, which is buggy and difficult to manage. By having a WordPress-based site, this company will be able to edit their new website on their own. It's as easy as editing a document on your computer.
Fans of the Rally to Restore Sanity (interest website)
http://jonstewartsanityrally.com
System: WordPress
Features: Ads, Donate button, Facebook integration
This website was one of my personal projects. As soon as Jon Stewart announced his parody rally, I was hooked and couldn't get enough of it.
Although much of the online activity around the rally took place on Facebook, this site was a big success. People used it to track news about the rally, find rally gear (such as t-shirts, stickers, buttons and sign ideas), find "sister rallies" in their area, and learn about ways to get around Washington, DC for the event.
The site was monetized with ads and requests for donations. The ads were a good money-maker due to their high relevancy (the vendor CafePress was particularly popular among visitors, thanks to their great selection of custom T-shirts, buttons and mugs).
